Specialty curricula review
The GDC is responsible for approving all curricula for education and training in specialist dentistry leading to the award of a Certificate of Completion of Specialty Education (CCST). The content of each curriculum is developed and owned by the Specialty Advisory Committees (SACs) who report to the relevant Dental Faculty of one of the three UK Royal Colleges of Surgeons. Since 2019 the GDC has worked closely with the SACs and other key stakeholders, including COPDEND, to revise the specialty curricula. This was completed in 2022-23 and the 13 approved curricula for training in specialist dentistry can be found on our specialty curricula webpage. They will be in use from September 2024.
